Modelling and Simulation Studies of JACEE Emulsion Chambers

Proceedings of the 21st International Cosmic Ray Conference, V4 pp. 377-380 (OG 10.5-4).

The detection efficiency of JACEE passive detectors (emulsion chambers) for high energy (1~100 TeV/nucleon) primary cosmic ray nuclei is examined by Monte Carlo simulations taking account of models of nuclear cascade, electron-photon shower and some experimental conditions. According to minute analysis of parameters depending on cosmic rays and detection conditions, our previous results are scarcely changed and we can also obtain information on the dependence of the paramters (primary and deposited energy, primary and target atomic types, inclination, collision position, X-ray film darkness, detection method and their distributions). It is sown that our detector and methods are efficient for observing these high energy cosmic rays.
